Burning Man was beggining to atract too damn many people, and there was too much dust and too much theft. There was way too many people at many of the events for everyone to participate.
So in 1996 we set up a "Spurning Man" Camp about 11 miles from the main camp. (about 3/4 mile from Trego Hot Springs, which is on the east edge of the playa)
Luckily, starting in 1997, these problem went away.
